Kenyon's Story

Kenyon was the reigning Mr. Basketball for the state of Michigan and came to Iowa to play for
Coach Dr. Tom Davis from 1992 to 1996. During his four-year career, he played in all 122 games and became the first player in Iowa Men’s Basketball history to have over 1000 points, 500 rebounds and 200 steals.


Since college, Kenyon has impacted hundreds of youths in serving as an assistant men’s
basketball coach at Indian Hills Community College, assistant boys’ coach at Cedar Rapids
Prairie High School, and for more than 15 years, as girls and boys AAU basketball coach.
Currently, he serves as the girl’s head varsity coach at Prairie, a team on which his daughter,
McKenna, plays. In addition to coaching, Kenyon is the owner of Murray Legacy Management,
Executive Director of the Murray Family Foundation, and host of “The Leave Your Legacy Podcast.”


Over the past several years, Kenyon and his family have been in the spotlight – as twin sons,
Kris and Keegan, have performed at the highest level... Keegan Murray 2022 #4 draft pick and Kris Murray 2023 #23 draft pick.

When Kenyon met his wife, Michelle, he said it was “love at first sight” … and they have been married 23 years, residing in Cedar Rapids. In addition to McKenna, Kris, and Keegan, Kenyon and Michelle are proud of their adopted son, Demetrius – and on New Year’s Day 2023.
